“ Tragic & Sudden “

Death is imminent. 🏴

However, there are certain deaths that are so difficult 💢 that they are classified as levels of martyrdom. ⚜️

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) ‏”‏ الشُّهَدَاءُ سَبْعَةٌ سِوَى الْقَتْلِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الْمَطْعُونُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْغَرِقُ شَهِيدٌ وَصَاحِبُ ذَاتِ الْجَنْبِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَبْطُونُ شَهِيدٌ وَالْحَرِقُ شَهِيدٌ وَالَّذِي يَمُوتُ تَحْتَ الْهَدْمِ شَهِيدٌ وَالْمَرْأَةُ تَمُوتُ بِجُمْعٍ شَهِيدٌ

The Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ) , said, ” There are seven kinds of martyr other than those killed in the way of Allah. Someone who is killed by the plague 🦠 is a martyr, someone who drowns 🌊 is a martyr, someone who dies of pleurisy 👃🏼😰 (inflammation of lining of the lungs, trouble breathing) is a martyr, someone who dies of a disease of the belly🤒 is a martyr, someone who dies by fire 🔥is a martyr, someone who dies under a falling building 🏢 is a martyr and a woman who dies in childbirth 🤰🏻 is a martyr. However, even though these deaths have such a high status the Prophet (ﷺ) used to still seek refuge from a few on that list, why? Because unlike martyrdom in jihad ⚔️, it is sought after, but these deaths are not. They may be sudden, unexpected, unprepared for 📛. Some people may not be able to withstand the trial and remain steadfast, losing the hold on their faith.💔

عَنْ أَبِي الْيَسَرِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَدْعُو ‏ “‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَدْمِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ التَّرَدِّي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْغَرَقِ وَالْحَرَقِ وَالْهَرَمِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ يَتَخَبَّطَنِي الشَّيْطَانُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَمُوتَ فِي سَبِيلِكَ مُدْبِرًا وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَمُوتَ لَدِيغًا ‏

AbulYusr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to supplicate: ” O Allah, I seek refuge in You from: 1) Being thrown from a high place 🏔️ or 2) Crushed beneath a falling wall 🏚️, I seek refuge in you from 3) Drowning,🏖️ 4) Burning🧯 and, 5) Decrepitude👴🏽 (very weak, debilitated in old age). I seek refuge in you from the devil harming me at the time of my death, I seek refuge in you from 6) Dying in your path while retreating🤺 (on the battlefield), and I seek refuge in you from 7) Dying of the sting of a poisonous creature 🐍🦂 (ie: scorpion, snake).”

O’Allah we see refuge from all these deaths and for any Muslim who passed away from them, ya rab accept them as shuhada’ & martyrs. Ameen. 🌿🤲🏽
